Reopening of GFDC Dona Paula Centre and Kit Distribution Ceremony
Grassroots football training resumed at the GFDC Dona Paula Centre, held at Our Lady of the Rosary School ground, with a kit-distribution ceremony for young female trainees.
The Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) Dona Paula Centre officially resumed grassroots football training on Monday, 2 June 2025, with a special Kit Distribution Ceremony held at the Our Lady of the Rosary School ground, Dona Paula. The event signalled the return of organised football activities for young female trainees in the GFDC programme.
Dignitaries in attendance
Fr. Pio Almeida, Parish Priest, was Chief Guest and motivated the young athletes to pursue football with dedication and discipline. Other attendees included the Member Secretary of GFDC, Sr. Antonieta Colaco (Headmistress, Our Lady of the Rosary High School), Cybil Rodrigues (Primary School Supervisor), Carol Gomes (Centre Head), and Leena Gaunso (Coach).
GFDC's continuous efforts in promoting grassroots football across the state — particularly in empowering young girls through structured training and access to quality facilities — remain central to the organisation's mission.
Dignitaries then distributed football kits to the trainees, launching a new training phase at the centre. The reopening underscores GFDC's continuing focus on developing football talent and increasing youth participation across Goa, with strong athletic foundations and inclusive access at the core.
