GFDC since its inception in 2012 has progressed tremendously in providing football coaching to young boys and girls in our football passionate State of Goa. Over the years, GFDC has provided football training to over 4000 boys and girls which is historic achievement and it is a State pride to see 4 GFDC academy trainees representing our country India in the age group categories and 2 girl trainees being selected for the India U-17 Women’s World Cup team which could not be held due to Covid -19.
Goa has abundant talent which needs nurturing and honing; to achieve this feat, Shri. Brahmanand Shankwalkar, Goa’s first Arjuna Awardee in football has been given the bastion as the new Chairman of GFDC, his guidance and direction will bring back the glory days of football in the State of Goa.
I envisage GFDC to have one of the best football academies to develop the best talent in Goa and raise them to international standards and play for India and also in International Football Leagues.

GFDC has been doing tremendous job in grassroots and the results can be seen for all with 4 GFDC academy trainees representing India in the age group categories along with other trainees representing prestigious football clubs in Goa and other states.The work rate put in has come to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic. But I am positive that football will return stronger and GFDC will work at a rapid pace to make up for the lost time. My focus will be on training the grassroots children into future stars and Coaches’ education as Good coaches will produce good talent.I hope that the present situation improves so kids can enjoy football once again,” The potential is huge in Goa for the kids to shine, all they need is the platform to showcase their skills and talent which will be through tournaments, festivals and game exposure.My Goal is that GFDC produce talent and become a feeder chain for football clubs out there which will improve the standard of Indian football. I thank the Government of Goa, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Hon’ble Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Shri. Manohar Azgaonkar for bestowing the responsibility of taking Goan Football back to the glory days once again.

GFDC has completed 9 years of its existence since its formation in the year 2012; GFDC has achieved a milestone with 4 GFDC academy trainees representing India in the different age group categories besides others that represented prestigious football clubs in Goa and from other states. This has been achieved due to the Government’s support and positive intervention towards the project and result is there for everyone to see. The girl trainees of GFDC are also making their mark with 2 girls selected to represent India U 17 Women World Cup but unfortunately was postponed due to the Covid – 19 pandemic.
The Hon’ble Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Shri. Govind Gaude has relentlessly supported GFDC’s endeavor to scout Goan talent and take them to the highest level.
GFDC is striving to see the local talent shine at the National and International level by providing them with the required platform through our activities. With the appointment of Shri. Brahmanand Shankwalkar as the new Chairman of GFDC with effect from August 2020; his expertise and technical prowess has added a golden branch to GFDC and we shall nurture future Arjuna Awardees from Goa in years to come.
My aim is to emphasize on player and coaches development in all aspects; be it Education, Coaching, Nutrition, Values and Discipline we shall achieve the objective of the Council and help it reach its pinnacle.
